RRM Design Group Pledges $65,000 Toward Cal Poly
Scholarships
and Launches Employee Matching Donation Program
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- RRM Design Group of San Luis Obispo has pledged
$65,000 to create the RRM Design Group Scholarship Endowment for
students in Cal Poly’s College of Architecture and Environmental
Design
(CAED).
The firm began an employee matching donation program in May that could
substantially increase scholarship funding for Cal Poly CAED students
the over the next five years. This year’s RRM scholarship recipient
is
architecture student Vivian Ngo. Ngo was awarded $1,000 at the college’s
awards ceremony May 16.
Founded in 1974, RRM has grown to nearly 150 employees working in
offices in San Luis Obispo, Oakdale, Healdsburg, San Juan Capistrano and
San Jose. Half of the design group’s employees are Cal Poly grads,
and
11 are currently enrolled at the university.
“Our greatest asset is our people -- who help us fulfill our mission
to
create environments people enjoy,” said Victor Montgomery, president
and
CEO of RRM Design Group and a 1975 Cal Poly architecture graduate. “The
majority of our employees are Cal Poly grads and together we've created
this endowment to benefit students from all five of the CAED
departments.
CAED Dean R. Thomas Jones thanked the firm for its ongoing support. “For
the past 25 years the CAED has enjoyed a partnership with RRM Design
Group that has included internships, field trips, financial support and
numerous on-campus visiting lecturers.”
RRM’s award-winning team has been recognized for high-profile projects
across the state including the renovation and preservation of the Venice
Beach Boardwalk and historic pavilions, and for planning the new town
of
12 Bridges near Lincoln, California. The town will grow to over 20,000
people and encompass parks, a village center and a golf course that is
home to the Northern California LPGA Tournament.
In San Luis Obispo County the firm has been recognized for creating the
Avila Beach Front Street Enhancement Plan, the Pismo Beach Promenade,
the Cloisters in Morro Bay, the Paso Robles Public Safety Facility that
houses that city’s fire and police departments, San Luis Obispo’s
Fire
Station Headquarters No. 1, and Cal Poly’s Campus Master Plan.
