Cal Poly Celebrates Diversity With “We’re In This Together” Week
Activities, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial March

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly students and the university’s Student
Community Services office are sponsoring the annual campus “We’re In
This Together” Week Jan. 20-24 in memory of Martin Luther King Jr.

In addition to WITT Week activities, Cal Poly will also hold a campus
march in memory of King starting at roughly 11:30 a.m. this Thursday
(Jan. 15) in the University Union. Noted civil rights activist, author
and historian Roger Wilkins will speak in Chumash Auditorium in the
University Union at 11 a.m. and the march from the University Union
through campus to Dexter Lawn will follow his remarks.

Wilkins 11 a.m. speech is free and open to the public, as is the
following memorial march. All WITT activities are free and open to the
public, said WITT Week coordinator Charlene Rosales.

The Schedule for WITT Week 2004 includes:

· Tuesday, Jan. 20 – A-wear-ness Day: T-shirt making in UU Plaza,
11 a.m.; "Brother Outsider" film in Orfalea College of Business Rotunda
(Room 213), 7:15-9 p.m.

· Wednesday, Jan. 21 -Word Workshop in Fisher Science building Room
289, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

· Thursday, Jan. 22 -- "RACE-The Power of an Illusion, Episode 1:
The Difference Between Us," film in the University Union Room 216, 7 -9
p.m.

· Friday, Jan. 23 – A speaker from AIDS Support Network in Trinity
Hall study lounge,
7 -9 p.m.

· Saturday, Jan. 24 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service –
Children's Cultural Craft Carnival at the San Luis Obispo Senior
Citizens Center, 1455 Santa Rosa St., 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
