Cal Poly Seeks Nominations for ‘Quest for the Best’ Awards

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly’s Student Life and Leadership Department is
now accepting nominations for the 2004 Land Family Quest for the Best
Award. The annual award recognizes students who exemplify the values of
excellence, stewardship, collaboration, integrity and community service.

The award is sponsored by Cal Poly alumnus Jeff Land and his wife,
Carla, who wanted to recognize Cal Poly students who have achieved the
highest level of excellence while balancing their academic pursuits with
community service. One student from each of Cal Poly’s six colleges will
receive cash awards, along with one student who has been active in
student government. The top cash award – the equivalent of one year’s
tuition – will be given to the nominee who most effectively demonstrates
excellence on campus and in the community.

Faculty, staff and community members are welcome to nominate students
for the 2004 Land Family Quest for the Best Awards.

Nominations should include the student’s name and phone number or e-mail
address, plus a brief description of the student’s achievements and
qualifications. Nominations should be submitted by e-mail to Patricia
Harris, assistant director of leadership education and development,
pharris@calpoly.edu by Feb. 16.

Students who are nominated will be asked to write an essay outlining
their leadership experience and how it reflects the values that are key
to the Quest for the Best program. Their experience can be in campus,
religious, or charitable organizations.
