SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The Cal Poly Symphony (formerly known as the Cal Poly
Chamber Orchestra) will present a concert of masterpieces by German composers
at its Winter Concert at 3 p.m. March 14 in the Cal Poly Theatre.
The program, conducted by founder and Music Professor Clifton Swanson,
will open with the prelude to Richard Wagner's “Die Meistersinger.”
Featured soloist for the concert will be pianist and Music Professor William

4.
Spiller, a Cal Poly faculty member since 1991, is well known to Central
Coast audiences. He specializes in the music of Beethoven.
The concert will conclude with Johannes Brahms' Serenade in D major, Op.
11, a precursor to his towering symphonies, according to Swanson.
