Members of Cal Poly Symphony To Present Evening of String Chamber Music Feb. 25
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Members of the Cal Poly Symphony will present an evening
of string chamber music at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in Room 218 in the Davidson
Music Center on campus.
The program will include a wide range of music from solo sonatas to trios
and quartets in various combinations of instruments including double bass
trios.
Music and electrical engineering major Trevor Bortins will perform Franz
Keyper's "Romance and Rondo for String Bass," a string quartet
will perform an Alexander Borodin "Nocturne," and Conductor
and Music Department Chair Clifton Swanson will perform David Walters'
"Elephant's Gavotte," a humorous parody of "The Elephant"
found in Camille St. Saens' "Carnival of the Animals."
In addition, the Florestan Trio will perform three movements from "Serenade
for String Trio" by Ernst von Dohnanyi.
The recital will conclude with Georg Philipp Telemann's Concerto in G
major, performed by music major and violist Brittany Ridley, accompanied
by an orchestra of student musicians featured in the concert.
Admission to the concert is free. It is sponsored by the Cal Poly Music
