CSU Fullerton Professor to Speak at Cal Poly Feb. 26 on
“Spirituality, People of Color, and Prescriptions for Treatment”

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- CSU Fullerton Psychology Professor Joseph M.
Cervantes will speak about the intersection of spirituality, ethnicity
and healing Thursday, February 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Cal Poly’s University Union Room 220. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Cervantes' research interests are in the role of spirituality and
indigenous healing in the counseling process and pain management with
Spanish-speaking patients. He is an associate professor in the
Department of Counseling at Cal State Fullerton, and also maintains a
private practice specializing in children, adolescents and families in
the city of Orange. He completed his doctorate in community-clinical
psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
