Cal Poly Continuing Ed Offers Charcoal Drawing Class Feb. 18-March 10

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Express yourself using imagination and charcoal in a course
offered this winter through Cal Poly Continuing Education. Beginning and
intermediate artists can learn to release emotion and generate creative
energy, while building on existing drawing skills in the four-session course
entitled “Introduction to Charcoal.” The course will meet on Wednesdays from
6:10 p.m. - 9:10 p.m., from February 18 to March 10. The fee to attend is
$125, and participants should budget an additional $25 for art supplies.

This course will help participants begin to visualize the world from an
artist’s perspective. Each participant will have the opportunity to create and
use a value scale and will also learn how to build drama by manipulating
various aspects of lighting. The emphasis of this course will revolve around
each individual’s solid acquisition of artistic technical skills.

Course instructor, Dixie Cavigli, will use lectures, demonstrations, and
hands-on exercises to teach invaluable art skills.
