Cal Poly International Career Conference Set for Feb. 21 at Embassy Suites
SAN LUIS OBISPO – The 2004 International Career Conference, sponsored by Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business, is set for Feb. 21 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Luis Obispo. This year’s conference will feature corporate recruiting sessions, educational workshops, and remarks by PeopleSoft CTO Rick Bergquist and Marvell Semiconductors co-founder Weili Dai.
The International Career Conference is an annual event organized by a
team of students from Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business. The
event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 and is open to the public.
Registration is $5. Registration forms are available online at www.icc.calpoly.edu;
registration can be made in advance and also at the door.
The 2004 conference includes a chance to meet with more than 25 participating corporate recruiters, including the FBI, Lockheed Martin, Mondavi Winery, Woodbury Financial, E&J Gallo and Hewlett Packard.
Conference workshops include presentations by industry experts and leaders. Topics will include “The Effects of Technology,” “Media Influences in Business,” “Surviving the Corporate Jungle,” “Working Abroad,” “Women in International Business,” “International Wine Opportunities,” “Lend a Hand Internationally,” and an “Entrepreneurs Workshop.”
This year’s conference includes speeches from two tech industry leaders, Dai and Bergquist. Dai is a co-founder of Marvell Technology Group Ltd. and has served as vice president, corporate secretary and a director since its inception in 1995. Marvell has ranked 11th on a list of the 500 fastest-growing tech companies in North America, and Dai has been ranked No. 17 in the “Fortune 500 40 Under 40” listing of the wealthiest people in the United States
Bergquist is responsible for PeopleSoft’s technology vision. He was one of the original PeopleTools developers, joining the company as its sixth employee in 1987. PeopleSoft is the second largest enterprise application software company in the world, according to the company.
