Cal Poly Students, Faculty and Staff to Receive Community Service Award
from Tri-Counties Blood Bank March 2

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Tri-Counties Blood Bank will present Cal Poly with
an award for outstanding community service at a special ceremony March 2
– just after a campus blood drive.

University students, faculty and staff have collectively donated more
than 850 pints of blood for the local community during 2003.

“Cal Poly is one of the greatest resources for blood donations on the
Central Coast,” said Tri-Counties Blood Bank community relations officer
Mona Kleman.

To kick off the awards ceremony, Cal Poly students from the recreation
administration program have organized a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. on the lawn in front of Mott Gym on Perimeter Drive. Members of the
off-campus community are welcome to attend and donate also, said student
Matt Stephenson, one of the event organizers.

Tri-Counties Blood Bank will present the community service award to Cal
Poly President Warren J. Baker at 2 p.m. on the Mott Gym lawn.
