Cal Poly Vice President Departs for Post at UC Riverside
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Following nearly a decade of service to Cal Poly,
Vice
President for University Advancement Bill Boldt is leaving on Sept. 24
to assume similar duties at the University of California, Riverside as
vice chancellor for university advancement.
Boldt, according to President Warren J. Baker, came to Cal Poly as the
university was updating its strategic plans for programs and
enrollments, undertaking revision of its campus master plan, and
reviewing its advancement programs to ensure support for strategic and
master plan goals.
Commenting on Boldt’s service to the university, Baker noted that
Boldt
has been particularly effective in assembling a group of talented
advancement professionals who have provided important support to the
university in its outreach to alumni, friends and donors.
“We have seen progress across the board,” Baker explained,
“in our
college advancement programs, planned giving and endowments, advancement
services, annual giving, alumni relations, corporate and foundation
relations, public affairs and governmental relations.
The University Advancement team, in particular, has provided critical
support to Cal Poly deans and faculty in achieving and exceeding the
goals of the university’s successful $225 million Centennial Campaign.”
Baker continued, “Bill Boldt has been an energetic ambassador from
Cal
Poly to the community and to the university’s many alumni, friends
and
supporters. We will miss him here at Cal Poly but are pleased that he
will continue to serve the cause of higher education in the State of
California, in his new role at UC Riverside,”
Reflecting on his years at Cal Poly, Boldt said, “I have been privileged
to be part of the growth of Cal Poly’s advancement program and to
assist
President Baker, our deans, faculty and staff in working with generous
alumni and donors to enhance the quality and uniqueness of Cal Poly’s
educational programs, with their polytechnic emphasis and hands-on,
learn-by-doing approach to education.
“As my wife, Genene, and I leave to pursue this exciting new opportunity
at UC Riverside, we will always be grateful for our years at Cal Poly
and will remember fondly the many outstanding university colleagues,
alumni and friends we have come to know.”
Prior to Cal Poly, Boldt was assistant dean for the College of
Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University from 1989 to 1994.
The process for selection of Boldt’s successor is under review,
Baker
said, and will be announced in the near future. In the meantime,
Associate Vice President for University Advancement Rick Ellison will
assume day-to-day responsibility for the division, reporting directly
to
the president.
