Nominations Sought for Cal Poly President's Service Awards
SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly is seeking nominations from the public for
the 18th annual President's Service Awards, which recognize Cal Poly
students, staff and faculty members, student organizations and community
partners who have served both the campus and San Luis Obispo County.
The awards, granted annually by Cal Poly President Warren J. Baker and
the university’s Community Center, a part of Student Life and
Leadership, honor the recipients' spirit of civic involvement and
contributions that have improved the quality of life in their
communities.
The service award categories are designed to highlight specific
achievements. The categories are: Innovation in Service, Significant
Contribution, Emerging Service Leader Contribution, and Greek Community
Contribution. The first three are given to an organization, student,
faculty/staff member, or a community partner, and the last to a
fraternity or sorority.
The awardees are selected on the basis of written nominations reviewed
by a panel of faculty and staff members and students. Descriptions of
the categories and nomination forms can be found on the President's
Service Awards Web site at: http://service.calpoly.edu/psa
.
Nominations are due to Student Community Services in the University
Union, Room 217, by 5 p.m. Friday, April 30.
President Baker will present each recipient with a plaque at an awards
ceremony from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, in Chumash Auditorium in Cal
Poly’s University Union. Anyone who would like to attend the event
is
asked to reserve a space by May 10 by e-mailing crosales@calpoly.edu.
