22 Cal Poly Credential Candidates  Receive Governor's Teaching Fellowship

Twenty-two students in the teacher credential program at Cal Poly's University Center for Teacher Education have received Governor's Teaching Fellowships.

The competitive, merit-based awards provide $20,000 for education and
living expenses while students are enrolled in full-time
post-baccalaureate study leading to a basic teaching credential.
Now in its second year, the fellowship program offers assistance to
students preparing to teach for four years in low-performing schools in
California and is a component of Governor Davis' education program.

This year 1,000 fellowships were awarded across the state.
